The Van Houten Family was established in 2006 when Josh and Kristan Van Houten were married. Josh is an Antelope Valley native and attended Desert Christian School and AVC before becoming an LA County Sheriff Deputy in September 2000. He served his community in that capacity for 15 years before joining the iLEAD Schools Facilities and Safety team. He now is employed by the US Postal Service and continues to support iLEAD Schools.
His wife Kristan, settled into the AV in 1998 and attended AV High and AVC before beginning her community service work. After working for the Mayor and taking time off to raise her small children, her heart for service lead her to iLEAD after meeting its founder Dawn Evenson, through participation in the community pageant circuit and falling in love with the iLEAD model.
Taylr, their “adopted” daughter has been a member of the family for 6 years and she is on her way to WSU in the fall after earning her spot on the AVC Deans list for 4 semesters, serving her community as a coach, dance teacher and an iLEAD AV employee.
Brendyn, 11 years old is a 5th grade learner at iLEAD Lancaster and is an actor and just attended a premier for his first movie. He is also an avid maker. His love for iLEAD culture is contagious.
Rylee, 9 years old and in the 4th grade is the reigning Miss California Jr Pre Teen and a dancer and singer. She leads the, “Choose Kind” initiative on campus that promotes inclusion.
Sidney, age 6 in a 1st grade learner and she loves to greet at tours and take sick learners to the office. She is a dancer and cheer leader and the reigning Tiny Miss Antelope Valley.
Abbey age 4 and the book end of the family is a silly sweet and kind Little iLEADer who is great at sharing and is waiting to join her siblings in Kinder Kim’s class in the fall.
The entire Van Houten family is honored, humbled and blessed by this award and looks forward to many more years supporting their iLEAD family!
